Super Eagles and Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen made the headlines in his side's 1-1 draw against Besiktas in the Istanbul derby, Soccernet.ng reports.
However, this time, it wasn't for finding the back of the net or for breaking a goal record. Former Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham opened the scoring in the derby.
The 28-year-old forward tapped the ball home after Galatasaray goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir initially denied an attempt from Vaclav Cerny, parrying the ball into Abraham's path.

With no love lost between both sides, things got very heated close to the end of the first half after Davidson Sanchez was given his marching orders.

Several reports have claimed that the Besiktas midfielder used racist language in telling Osimhen to get on his feet, hence the striker's reaction, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Things could have boiled over, but his Super Eagles' compatriot, Wilfred Ndidi, stepped in to calm the chaos.

Okan Buruk's side earned a point to continue their unbeaten domestic run and stay five points clear ahead of the Turkish Super Lig.
Should Victor Osimhen have reacted that way?
At any level, football is a game of high stakes, emotions and passions, primarily because everyone wants to do their best to help their team. The second part is that strikers gain confidence by scoring goals; hence, they want to feed off that as often as possible.
More so in a derby, especially the Istanbul derby, which has been known to push players and staff to the tipping point. We can all remember last season when Bright Osayi-Samuel got into it with a fan during his time at Fenerbahce.

While the action of the former Napoli man has sparked mixed reactions online, with many tilting towards telling the Super Eagles great to get a hold of his emotions, I don't necessarily agree.
If anything, this is the first time Osimhen has been involved in something of this nature despite being at Galatasaray for the past year. A one-time action in a game of such high stakes can get a pass, surely?
Whether or not the Nigerian forward will be banned is currently unknown, but he was cautioned in the game by referee Yasin Kol.
