The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to face Benin Republic and Lesotho in crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a squad valued at a staggering €295.2 million (approx. ₦504.5 billion naira) on the transfer market, Soccernet.ng reports.

This market valuation underscores the team’s reputation as one of Africa’s wealthiest in football talent.

Nigeria coach Eric Chelle has named a 23-man squad brimming with stars who showcase their skills across Europe’s top leagues.

Meanwhile, the team’s market valuation points to stars who are already established and emerging talents.

Who made up Super Eagles' ₦504.5 Billion Squad?

Per transfermarket, Ademola Lookman (€60m) and Victor Osimhen (€75m) stand out as the squad’s most valuable assets. Undoubtedly, Lookman’s performance at Atalanta pushed his stock up, while Osimhen remains Africa’s most prized striker despite a turbulent summer move.

They are joined by teammates such as Alex Iwobi (€28m), Calvin Bassey (€25m), and Tolu Arokodare (€18m). Stanley Nwabali (€650k), Benjamin Fredrick (€400k), and Adebayo Adeleye (€450k) are among the lowest-valued players, while Amas Obasogie is listed without a recorded market value.

The midfield is anchored by Wilfred Ndidi (€12m) and Frank Onyeka (€7m), with New England Revolution’s Alhassan Yusuf (€3m).

In defence, Bright Osayi-Samuel (€6.5m) and William Troost-Ekong (€1.5m) bring experience alongside Felix Agu (€8m) and Bruno Onyemaechi (€2.7m).

Can Nigeria Turn Market Value To Results?

The squad’s total valuation of €295.2 million places Nigeria among the most expensive teams in Africa. However, questions remain over whether financial valuation will translate into consistent results, especially after the Super Eagles’ recent struggles in World Cup qualifying.

It is still a mystery to see Nigeria turn their transfer market riches into victories on the pitch following their previous struggles. However, a back-to-back must-win encounters against Benin and Lesotho will prove otherwise.
