Confirmed: Super Eagles star to miss crunch Champions League tie against Inter Milan

Several Super Eagles stars will be competing in the UEFA Champions League when the competition resumes this week, Soccernet.ng reports.

However, one of them is set to miss a huge clash at the San Siro against Inter Milan on Tuesday night.

Slavia Prague's Igoh Ogbu has been ruled out of action as he's yet to recover from a strain injury.

Slavia Prague's head coach, Jindrich Trpisovsky, confirmed that while he wants his side to win, they'd be without the Nigerian defender.

“All those who are healthy and on the roster for the Champions League are going,” the 49-year-old said in quotes revealed by Efotbal.

“We will definitely miss Ogbu and Holeš [Tomas], which is a big hit, but young boys like Tomáš Vlček, David Zima and Štěpán Chaloupek show that they are proficient representatives of these leaders and should replace them well.

“We've been through a virus that should be behind us by now. We believe that it will not affect anyone anymore.”

Both sides met in September 2019, playing out a 1-1 draw at the Giuseppe Meazza, and their assistant coach is eyeing an even better result this time.

“I'd like to be able to remember that. I would like a better result than with AC. I think Inter have great fans.

“The last time with AC came to support us, a lot of our supporters. I believe that they will dominate the atmosphere this time and will drive us to a good result.

“We want to win every game. We're going to Milan for the third time, with Inter and Inter playing a little bit unlucky 1:1 six years ago, when we got a goal in the set-up.

“Then we played with AC on the San Siro, but there was a red card, so we hope it will work out the third time,” Zdeněk Houštecký concluded.

Prague have been in great form, as they're unbeaten in 13 games across all competitions, while Inter Milan have lost two of their last five games.
