Nigerians abroad: Iwobi inspires Fulham win; Orban MotM vs Juventus; Moffi, Onuachu, Oshoala on fire

Alex Iwobi and Gift Orban

Alex Iwobi, Gift Orban and Asisat Oshoala were among the standout Nigerian performers across Europe and the Middle East on a Saturday packed with goals, drama and headlines, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nigeria’s Iwobi inspires Fulham

At Craven Cottage, Alex Iwobi produced a game-changing display as Fulham came from behind to beat Brentford 3-1.

The Super Eagles midfielder levelled the score in the 38th minute, pouncing on a loose ball after Nathan Collins’ failed clearance.

Just 98 seconds later, Iwobi turned provider, sliding a neat pass into the path of Harry Wilson, who curled home a low finish.

Iwobi’s quickfire contribution flipped the contest on its head and showed again why he is held in high esteem by Fulham boss Marco Silva. Having hit career-best numbers last season with nine goals and six assists, he already looks set to push Fulham towards another strong campaign.

Iwobi's international teammate Calvin Bassey also impressed in defence for Fulham.

Fulham's Samuel Chukwueze and Brentford's Frank Onyeka were unused substitutes in the encounter.

Orban floors Juventus

In Italy, Gift Orban earned man-of-the-match honours as Hellas Verona snatched a 1-1 draw against Juventus.

The 22-year-old striker equalised from the spot just before half-time after Joao Mario’s handball. Michele Di Gregorio got a touch to his penalty, but the strike had too much power.

Orban, relentless throughout with eight attempts at goal, was a constant menace to the Juve defence and walked away with his first Serie A goal and a statement performance against the former champions.

Oshoala on target again in Saudi Arabia

Super Falcons legend Asisat Oshoala is wasting no time making her mark at Al-Hilal.

The six-time African Player of the Year scored and assisted in a 3-2 win over Al Ahli in the Saudi Women’s Premier League.

It was her second goal in as many games since arriving from Bay FC, and her quality in the final third was decisive once again. Her presence is already raising the league’s profile, with Al-Hilal clearly building their attack around her.

Onuachu fueled by Onana’s magic

In Turkey, Paul Onuachu salvaged a point for Trabzonspor in a 1-1 draw with Gaziantep, thanks to an unlikely assist from goalkeeper André Onana.

The Manchester United loanee spotted Onuachu’s position and launched a 60-yard pass from deep in his own half.

The Nigerian striker attacked the ball brilliantly before jinking past the goalkeeper and slotting home on 70 minutes.

It is now three goals in six league appearances for Onuachu since his return to Trabzonspor in the summer.

Moffi strikes in heavy defeat

Over in France, Terem Moffi found the net for OGC Nice, but his effort was in vain as Brest ran out 4-1 winners.

The striker took his chance well, registering his second goal of the campaign, but Nice were second best across the pitch and paid the price for slack defending.
