Rafiu Durosinmi has been linked to Lazio and Udinese in recent weeks, and there is a chance he could move this summer
Udinese and Lazio target Rafiu Durosinmi has disappointing since the start of the season, but his Viktoria Plzen coach Miroslav Koubek has backed him to return to his best soon, Soccernet.ng reports.
Durosinmi would probably be an Eintracht Frankfurt player last year if not for a knee injury that kept him out of action for 15 months.
However, the big Nigerian striker returned to action midway into last season and started banging in goals consistently. Durosinmi contributed nine goals and four assists in 22 appearances for the Czech Republic giants.
His brilliance has attracted links to Serie A clubs Lazio and Udinese, but they are yet to submit a bid for him.
However, Durosinmi has not been convincing enough this season. He has played in five games this season, with two goals to his name.
He even came under fire after Viktoria Plzen's last game against Slovacko, where he caused the penalty that led to their opponents' equalizer.
Nonetheless, his coach Koubek has come out to back him. The Czech coach believes Durosinmi doesn't deserve the flacks he has gotten and will soon start churning out the goals.
“If you are not happy with his performance paste his face in the newspapers, Koubek said, per infotbal.
“A few months ago he was the best striker in the league, now he doesn't have that well-being and athletic form.
“But he's fought and he's worked hard. That's the most important thing at a given moment when he's not doing well.”
It is still very early in the season, and the 22-year-old will look to pick up the pace in the coming weeks.
Will Rafiu Durosinmi move to Udinese or Lazio?
As it stands, Udinese seems like the most likely destination for Rafiu Durosinmi. Udinese just sold their main marksman Lorenzo Lucca to Napoli, and they need a replacement.
They have money to spend, but they will be looking at a more economical option. Durosinmi is valued at €7 million on Transfermarkt, and he fits their bill due to his quality and his price.
Meanwhile, business has been slow for Lazio this summer. They don't have enough money to spend on transfers this summer, and getting Durosinmi might be a serious hassle.
Nonetheless, any club that wants to acquire the Nigerian's services will look to move quickly, as the new Serie A season kicks off in two weeks.
