Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi is set to get an extra competition for a starting place at Nice, as the club is closing in on the signing of Odsonne Edouard from Crystal Palace, Soccernet.ng reports.
Moffi spent the majority of last season on the sidelines as he was recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury he sustained during last summer's pre-season.
He eventually returned to action in mid-March and was eased into action slowly. The Super Eagles striker eventually featured in just four games last season.
Nonetheless, he returned to action full time this summer. Moffi featured in five of Nice's pre-season games and scored one goal.
The 26-year-old striker also led the line for Nice when they took on Benfica in the UEFA Champions League playoffs.
Unfortunately for him, he failed to find the target over two legs, as Les Aiglons lost both games 2-0 and were knocked out. In both games, Nice's attack lacked some bite, and Moffi was unimpressive.

Meanwhile, over the past week, Nice have been linked with Crystal Palace striker Edouard. The Frenchman is surplus to requirements at Selhurst Park.
He spent last season on loan at Leicester City but could not prevent them from getting relegated from the the Premier League.
Since it has been clear that he is not wanted at Selhurst Park, Edouard has been linked to different clubs, including Celtic and Girona, but he appears to favour a move to Nice.
Now, according to Sacha Tavolieri, Nice are in advance negotiations with Crystal Palace for Edouard, and the deal could be completed in the coming days.
What Odsonne Edouard's Potential Arrival Means For Terem Moffi
If Nice succeed in signing Odsonne Edouard from Crystal Palace, it would definitely affect Terem Moffi.
Although Les Aiglons coach Haise Franck sets up with two strikers, Moffi might have to sit if he does not get amongst the goals consistently.
Nice still have other forwards like Jansson Isak, Jeremie Boga, Badredine Bouanani, Sofiane Diop, and Mohamed-Ali Cho, who all need game time.
So, it is whoever delivers and is fit that will get regular game time. Before his injury, Moffi was consistent for Nice, contributing 20 goals and five assists in 53 appearances.
He will hope to get back to his best form soon and stamp his authority on a starting shirt at the club.
