A Rennes star of Nigerian descent is set to join Paul Onuachu, Henry Onyekuru and Victor Osimhen in the Turkish topflight…

Belgian-Nigerian winger Kazeem Olaigbe has landed in Turkey as he prepares to finalise his transfer from Ligue 1 outfit Rennes to Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 22-year-old, who arrived to a rousing reception from fans at Trabzon Airport, is expected to complete medicals before signing a multi-year contract with the Black Sea giants.

Olaigbe will become the latest addition to Trabzonspor’s evolving frontline, joining fellow Nigerians Paul Onuachu and Anthony Nwakaeme.

Highly rated for his speed, versatility and right-footed delivery from both wings, Olaigbe is being recruited as part of the club's efforts to inject youthful energy and competition across their attacking options.

Though predominantly used as a left winger, he is equally capable of operating on the right or as a supporting striker.

Born in Brussels on January 2, 2003, Olaigbe honed his craft at the famed Anderlecht academy before making a move to Southampton in 2019.

“Teknik kapasitesi çok yüksek ve çok genç bir oyuncu. Trabzonspor'da Nwakaeme, Yattara, Jaja, Alanzinho gibi oyuncular şehirle güçlü bir bağ kuruyor. Olaigbe de güçlü bir hücum oyuncusu.”

After developing through the ranks in England, he had loan spells at Ross County in Scotland and Harrogate Town in League Two before moving to Cercle Brugge in Belgium, where he featured prominently between 2023 and 2025.

In February, he completed a switch to Rennes, but saw limited action, making only ten Ligue 1 appearances and registering two assists. With first-team opportunities scarce and his long-term future uncertain, the winger opted for a change in scenery, despite having a contract at Rennes that runs until June 2029.

Trabzonspor Set to Sign Rennes Star

Olaigbe has represented Belgium at U17 and U19 levels, but remains eligible to play for Nigeria.

Super Eagles boss Eric Chelle is reportedly monitoring the young attacker closely as he seeks more competition for Samuel Chukwueze on the right flank.

According to Transfermarkt, his market value is currently estimated at €5.2 million, although details of the transfer fee remain undisclosed.

Olaigbe scored eight goals and contributed three assists in 41 combined appearances for Cercle Brugge and Rennes last season.

He is now expected to sign with Trabzonspor after completing his medical tests.
