Christantus Uche issues 22-word statement amid links to Crystal Palace, Wolves, Como, Milan

Nigeria international Christantus Uche has brought an unexpected twist to his transfer saga as he continues to be linked with a move abroad, Soccernet.ng reports.

While a number of English and Italian clubs are hot in chase of Uche's signature, the Super Eagles star has released a 22-word statement that signals his intention to remain at Getafe.

The 22-year-old midfielder, valued at €15m by Transfermarkt, had appeared set for a move to Wolves after the Premier League club agreed a €20m deal with Getafe earlier this month.

Medicals were already being planned, with Uche tipped to make his debut this weekend. However, the move collapsed after the player himself refused to finalise the switch.

Crystal Palace are the latest English club credited with interest, with the Eagles seeking attacking reinforcements following Eberechi Eze’s departure to Arsenal.

In Italy, AC Milan and Serie A newbies Como, fronted by Cesc Fàbregas and Thierry Henry as minority shareholders, have also made enquiries, though no formal offers have yet been tabled.

While his agent admitted this week that Uche was confused about whether to stay or leave, the player has now clarified his position.

Writing on X (formerly Twitter), he said:

“The most important thing in life will always be the people in this room, right here, right now. Salute mi familia, Getafe.”

The message suggests Uche has chosen loyalty to the Spanish club and his teammates over a high-profile move abroad.

It means Getafe boss José Bordalás can still count on his most influential midfielder when they make the trip to Valencia this weekend.

Nigeria and Getafe star Christantus Uche Uche has started the new La Liga season in strong form, scoring and assisting in the opening-day win at Celta Vigo before producing another tireless performance in the 2-1 victory away at Sevilla. He is expected to play a key role again in matchday three.

The versatile midfielder netted four goals, contributed six assists and delivered a number of eye-catching performances in 33 La Liga games last season.
