Sensational move of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen’s switch from Napoli to Galatasaray has made headlines around the globe, Soccernet.ng reports.

With the deal now 95% complete, football fans, with their calculators, are beginning to unpack the fine print that could shape the striker’s future and impact Napoli and Galatasaray financially in the years ahead.

While the move is a record-breaking statement of ambition by Galatasaray, it could also be seen as a carefully engineered exit by Napoli as they ensure they retain influence long after Osimhen pulls on the yellow and red.

Osimhen's Transfer Exit From Napoli

For over two years, Osimhen had been linked with a move away from Napoli’s Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

But Napoli’s rigid stance, set by President Aurelio De Laurentiis, kept the suitors at bay—until Galatasaray entered with persistence and deep pockets.

After several rejected offers, the Turkish giants finally met Napoli’s valuation of €75 million total transfer fee—€40 million upfront and €35 million in structured payments through 2026.

What Galatasaray Could Still Owe Napoli

Deferred Payments

While the transfer is valued at €75 million, Galatasaray will only pay €40 million this summer. The remaining €35 million will be paid in installments, possibly over the next 12–18 months.

Sell-On Clause

Napoli have secured a 10% sell-on clause, entitling them to a portion of any future transfer fee Galatasaray receives if they sell Osimhen elsewhere.

If Galatasaray sells Osimhen for, say, €100 million in two years, Napoli would earn another €10 million to ensure they benefit from Osimhen’s market growth.

The “No Return to Serie A” Clause

One of the more unique clauses in the agreement is Napoli’s insistence on blocking Osimhen’s return to Italy for the foreseeable future.

The key term is a two-year restriction on being sold to any Serie A club, which means that if Galatasaray violates this clause, a penalty fee applies, likely significant enough to serve as a deterrent.

This clause means that Napoli wants to ensure that Osimhen—still in his prime at 26—could not return to haunt them in the Italian league.

Real Cost for Galatasaray: More Than €150 Million?

Beyond the transfer fee, Galatasaray is taking on a significant financial commitment of a transfer Fee that totals €75 million, annual wages of over three years that equal €45–48 million, Sponsorship Rights of €30 million and a potential resale loss of  €10 million.

This brings the total investment to well over €150 million, which makes Osimhen one of the most expensive players to ever wear the Galatasaray shirt—or play in the Turkish Süper Lig.
