Bayer Leverkusen already have two Super Eagles stars on their roster, but they are looking to add one more

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has emerged as a potential transfer target for former German Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ndidi has attracted interest from many clubs this summer. The 28-year-old Super Eagles star is coming off a disappointing campaign with Leicester City that saw the club get relegated.

Still, he was a standout performer at the club, as he averaged a 6.96 rating on Sofascore despite all their struggles in the Premier League.

Ndidi has attracted interest from clubs like Fenerbahce, Borussia Dortmund, Everton, and Manchester United.

Aside from his brilliance on the pitch, he has also become an attractive attention for many clubs, as he has a €9 million release clause in his contract due to Leicester City's relegation to the English Championship.

But in the meantime, none of the clubs linked to Ndidi have made a move yet. And now, another team has joined the chase.

According to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, Bayer Leverkusen have shown interest in acquiring Ndidi's services.

Die Werkself have had a tough summer that has seen them lose important players like Florian Wirtz, Jonathan Tah, and Jeremie Frimpong. As such, they are looking to take a new shape under the tutelage of coach Erik Ten Hag.

Ndidi will be a fine addition to Bayer Leverkusen, as he has a high work rate, is a fine tackler, and supports the attack.

If the transfer happens, Ndidi will become the third Nigerian player at BayArena after Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella.

Die Werkself have the money to finance the deal, as they have made almost €200 million from departures this summer, so €9 million is a fee they can afford.

Should Wilfred Ndidi join Bayer Leverkusen?

Moving to Bayer Leverkusen from Leicester City would be a step up for Wilfred Ndidi, as the club won the Bundesliga just last year. They will also play Champions League football next season, a rarity for Ndidi.

He will also have the company of his Super Eagles teammates Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella, so it won't be difficult for him to adjust to life there.

If Erik Ten Hag's plans for next season look good for him, he should definitely consider moving to Germany.
