On Monday night, there were rumours that Asisat Oshoala had called time on her Super Falcons career

Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala shared a meme on social media, in a bid to debunk rumours that she had retired from the national team, Soccernet.ng reports.

On Monday evening news circulated the rounds that Oshoala had retired from international duty with Nigeria. This was due to a post from a fake Oshoala account on Facebook.

However, it has since been confirmed that the six-time CAF Player of the Year is still with the Super Falcons, at least till the end of the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

Although the former Barcelona striker has not granted any interview to address the matter, she shared a meme on social media as she is fond of doing.

The meme that Oshoala posted had a man trying to subdue a bull, and she captioned it, “The day I catch that journalist…ogun kill am.”

Nigeria vs South Africa: Asisat Oshoala focused on landing WAFCON 2024 final spot

Amid all the distraction of her purported retirement, Asisat Oshoala's main goal will be to help the Super Falcons defeat South Africa today and seal their spot in the final of the 2024 WAFCON.

The Banyana Banyana have been a difficult nut to crack for Nigeria in recent years, and they would surely pose a big challenge for Justin Madugu’s ladies once more.

South Africa already smelled blood after winning the last WAFCON. They beat the Super Falcons on their road to winning the trophy in 2022, and they will have the belief that they can repeat that feat once more under the light of the Stade Larbi Zaouli.

Nonetheless, after the Super Falcons' incredible performance against Zambia in the quarterfinals, Nigeria are still odds on favourites to emerge victorious.
