“Very tasking” – Michelle Alozie reveals how Super Falcons thumped Zambia

Super Falcons and Houston Dash full-back, Michelle Chinwendu Alozie, has revealed Nigeria's Unity in defense and attack made them unstoppable against Zambia, Soccernet.ng reports.

There was a lot of tension and anticipation in the build-up to the WAFCON 2024 quarter final fixture, given the potency of Zambia's attack.

However, Justin Madugu's side quelled any early nerves when Osinachi Ohale headed the ball home just 32 seconds into the first half, and it went route-one after then.

Nigeria scored two more goals in the first half before Oluwatosin Demehin and Florence Ijamilusi scored the final two in the second half.

After the game, Alozie gave full credit to her teammates for executing their game plan perfectly, citing the unity in the squad.

“I'm very tired. That was a very tasking game. They have an amazing front three, so to be able to shut them down was going to take every ounce of energy,” the Houston-Dash attacker said in her post-game interview with Ademola Victor.

“I was barely hanging on at the end of the game, so that's all down to Zambia, they're a really great side, so we were just able to perform today and put goals away.”

“The team play was amazing, and I think that shows how we're evolving collectively. I'm nothing without the people in front of me and the people on the side as well,” she continued.

“Being able to connect with them a bit more today, defend solidly and connect some passes was everything, and I'm glad to have contributed to a goal.

“We knew set-pieces were going to be an important component since we noticed our height difference with the Zambian team, and most African teams.”

“We knew we had to put our chances away and we did that very well today,” Alozie concluded.
