Super Eagles Sadiq Umar has hinted at growing frustration over his uncertain future, as both Real Sociedad and Valencia appear to have shut the door on his services ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 28-year-old striker, currently holidaying in Nigeria, is under contract with Real Sociedad until 2028. However, the Basque club is no longer keen on retaining him, and a permanent exit now seems inevitable.

Sadiq spent the second half of last season on loan at Valencia, where he scored five goals in 16 appearances, helping Los Che steer clear of relegation and finish just outside the top ten. The Nigerian forward won Valencia’s goal of the season award.

Despite his impact, Valencia opted against triggering the €10 million buy option included in his loan deal, effectively ending his brief spell at the Mestalla.

With no concrete offers currently on the table, Sadiq remains a Real Sociedad player — albeit one clearly deemed surplus to requirements.

Reports from Turkey suggest that Süper Lig giants Beşiktaş are monitoring his situation, with a potential loan deal under consideration, but talks are still at an early stage.

The former Almería, Roma and Torino forward has struggled to establish himself at Sociedad since his €20 million move in 2022. A serious knee injury early in his debut season hampered his momentum, and he has since failed to fit into the tactical setup at Real Sociedad.

“I don't love you” – Super Eagles star, Sadiq

Adding fuel to speculation surrounding his future, Sadiq recently posted a cryptic message on Instagram via TMW that read:

“You don’t love me or I don’t love you. What’s the answer? To keep it best in secret then say we don’t love each other.”

The post has sparked rumours of a looming departure, with many interpreting it as a veiled farewell or an emotional response to being overlooked by both Valencia and Sociedad.

While the summer transfer window may still offer new possibilities, Sadiq's next destination remains unclear. Unless a breakthrough comes soon, the Super Eagles striker could find himself in limbo once again.

Sadiq, who has one goal in 12 appearances for Nigeria, is currently valued at five million euros.
