Head coach of the Black Queens of Ghana, Kim Lars Björkegren, is excited about his side's opportunity to play against the Super Falcons of Nigeria as they prepare for the 2024 WAFCON competition, Soccernet.ng reports.

Austine Madugu's side are the record African Champions, and are poised to do it again in Morocco next month after losing the last edition to the Bayana Bayana of South Africa.

Ghana are set to engage in three international warm-up matches against Malawi, Botswana, and Nigeria before the start of the tournament on the 5th of July.

The Ghana FA view these games as a preparation tactic that'll allow the Black Queens to build team chemistry and fine-tune their strategies ahead of the competition.

They'll host Malawi at the Ziaida Complex in Benslimane on June 21, before taking on Botswana four days later at the same venue. Their final friendly against the Super Falcons will be played on Friday, June 29, at the Lanouria Complex.

“We want to test ourselves against different playing styles and team dynamics. Malawi and Botswana provide technical and disciplined opposition, while Nigeria offers the challenge of a traditional powerhouse,” the Black Queens head coach, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, said in quotes revealed by the Ghana FA's Official website.

Nigeria, on the other hand, will play against Portugal on the 23rd of June at the Estádio José Gomes before they lock horns against the Black Queens in a Jollof Derby next Sunday.
