Kaizer Chiefs have completed the signing of Nigerian forward Etiosa Ighodaro, who was previously on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 23-year-old joins the Soweto giants following a series of loan spells since his arrival in South Africa in 2021. The Benin City-born striker spent the 2024/25 season at AmaZulu FC, where he impressed despite the club’s inconsistent performances.

Ighodaro never broke into the first team at Chloorkop. Instead, he gained valuable experience with loan stints at Chippa United, SuperSport United, and AmaZulu, where he led the line and contributed across the attacking front.

Kaizer Chiefs have now moved quickly to secure his services on a permanent basis as part of their rebuilding project.

The deal sees the Nigerian centre-forward reunite with the DStv Premiership on a fresh chapter, this time aiming to make a name for himself at one of South Africa’s biggest clubs.

Ighodaro, who can also operate as a right winger, was highly rated when he joined Sundowns from Abuja College in 2021.

His market value has steadily climbed in recent seasons, currently standing at €1.40 million, his career-high as of May 2025, per Transfermarkt.

Known for his clinical left foot, Ighodaro is expected to provide a much-needed boost to Chiefs’ frontline following a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, which dropped them to 9th place in the league standings.

The Nigerian forward is expected to link up with his new teammates in the coming weeks as pre-season preparations get underway.
