Nigeria’s Super Eagles B will begin their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign in the picturesque Tanzanian archipelago of Zanzibar, after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the group stage venues, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 2018 silver-medallists are drawn in Group B alongside defending champions Senegal, Congo, and Sudan. Initially excluded, Congo were reinstated into the group following the CAF Appeals Committee’s disqualification of Equatorial Guinea.

The CHAN tournament, which runs from 2–30 August, is being hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda — the same trio set to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. CAF considers this year’s competition a critical dress rehearsal for that major event.

The tournament opener will take place at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, while matches will also be played at the Mandela Stadium in Kampala, Uganda. The final is set for 30 August at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, in Nairobi, Kenya.

Nigeria have a strong pedigree in the competition, finishing third in 2014 and reaching the final in 2018, where they lost 4-0 to hosts Morocco.

CHAN, a biennial competition established in 2009, is unique in that it features only players who compete in their home country's domestic leagues. DR Congo and Morocco lead the honours list with two titles each, while Tunisia, Libya, and current champions Senegal have each won the tournament once.

Nigeria’s quest for a maiden CHAN title begins in the exotic setting of Zanzibar — a stage that promises both beauty and battle.
