Super Eagles and Remo Stars striker, Sikiru Alimi, has lamented the postponement of the 2025 CHAN tournament by CAF back in January, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 29-year-old recently debuted for the Nigerian National team against Ghana in the 2025 Unity Cup semi-final after winning the NPFL title with Remo Stars last month.

Alimi was a part of the home-based Super Eagles team that were preparing for the CHAN tournament through Christmas into the new year, before CAF announced the postponement of the tournament, moving it from January to August 2025, and this saddened the lanky forward.

“We were really disappointed about the postponement of CHAN. So it was a really heartbreaking moment for most of us because we were set for the tournament.

“We prepared for it, and we were looking forward to it, but unfortunately, the organiser, CAF, said, no, it's won't happen. So at least we're still looking forward to the tournament in August,” the former Shooting Stars forward told Soccernet.ng.

The African Nations Championship is set to be hosted between Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in August 2025, but the official dates will be announced by CAF in due course.
