Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi has reaffirmed his desire to remain in the English Premier League amid growing speculation about a possible exit from Nottingham Forest this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian attacker has been linked with a move away from the club following a lack of playing time due to stiff competition from in-form New Zealand striker Chris Wood.

Awoniyi, who has battled with injuries over the last season, made his stance clear on Humble Boots, where he noted that the Premier League remains his priority, despite reported interest from clubs in other European leagues.

“For me, it’s always the Premier League. My family, agent, everyone knows [that] it’s always the Premier League,” the former Union Berlin striker said.

“I know when I will tell myself, ‘Thank you, Premier League. So, I still have two more years with Nottingham Forest, thank God for that.”

The 27-year-old also revealed how uninterested he is in offers from other leagues, particularly Spain, despite being approached.

He added: “Everyone knows [It’s the Premier League]. I’ve seen people text me and be like ‘we have this good project in Spain’ — I don’t even reply to them. Sometimes I block them immediately because it’s not my conversation.”

Awoniyi joined Nottingham Forest from Union Berlin in 2022 and played a key role in helping the club avoid relegation during his first season.

With just two goals in 31 appearances this season, the Nigerian forward will be aiming for improved performances in the future for the Tricky Trees, with his sights still firmly set on England’s top flight.
