Fulham and Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Chuka Iwobi, has backed his club teammates to not give up in their pursuit of European football following their loss to Everton over the weekend, Soccernet.ng reports.

Marco Silva's side have collected points against the big Premier League sides like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool this season, but a lack of consistency now means their hopes of playing in the UEFA Europa League next season hangs by a thread.

Iwobi is currently enjoying his best career run in the English top-flight this campaign, and has urged his teammates to keep their heads up high despite their loss to Everton.

“Of course it was disappointing. We felt we controlled the first-half and then when they scored the equaliser, it probably boosted them for the second-half.

“We had a few chances to put away in the first-half which we didn’t capitalise on, and obviously we’re disappointed to concede from set pieces yet again,” the former Everton midfielder told Fulham's official website.

“I’m not too sure what it is. It’s something we need to work on in training – we’ve been telling each other to focus more.

“If you look at the rest of the season, we’ve been doing really well and we’ve been getting points against strong sides, solid sides, especially the top teams, but unfortunately it’s games like these where we need to get the points that we haven’t been able to do so.

“I couldn’t tell you what it is but whatever it is, we need to sort it out because we’ve still got a few games to go and we have to end the season as strong as we can. The season’s not done – let’s see what we can do,” the Arsenal Academy graduate concluded.

Fulham are now 11th on the English Premier League table, four points behind Thomas Frank's Brentford who occupy 8th position.
