The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are set to take on the Atlas Lions of Morocco in their second Group B fixture at the U-20 AFCON tournament, Soccernet.ng reports.

Aliyu Zubairu’s side claimed a 1-0 win over Tunisia in their opening group game in Cairo, courtesy of a first-half strike from midfielder Auwal Ibrahim.

Ahead of their clash at the June Air Defence Stadium tomorrow evening, Soccernet.ng highlights what the seven-time African Champions must do differently against Morocco.

What the Flying Eagles must do differently:

1. Be more clinical

Nigeria’s game against Tunisia on Thursday was keenly contested. Although they had the upper hand, the game was a story of physical battles, near misses, and late drama.

The Flying Eagles dominated early in the game and carved out several chances, but the Tunisians were sturdy at the back.

Morocco scored three goals against Kenya in their opening group game, and the Flying Eagles would have to be one-ahead if they’re to ensure victory this evening.

2. Be more disciplined

To avoid suspensions later in the competition, Nigeria have to tread lightly. In the second half of the game against Tunisia, the game got more physical and ended with six yellow cards, evenly shared among both teams.

Morocco poses a huge goalscoring threat compared to the Tunisians, which in turn means Nigeria must be on guard defensively, alongside making sure they avoid unnecessary fouls.

3. Play with authority

Nigeria is the most decorated team in U-20 AFCON history with seven titles, which hints that they’ll be highly revered and respected by the opponents.

While that was evident in the first half against Tunisia, the Flying Eagles relaxed as the game went on.

Against Morocco, Nigeria should be more expressive with their style of play and make sure they stamp their foot on the game from the first whistle to the final.
