Super Eagles forward Moses Simon appears set to leave Nantes this summer after reportedly deciding against extending his contract with the French club, amid strong interest from Premier League side Everton, Soccernet.ng understands.

The 29-year-old has been a pivotal figure at Nantes since joining initially on loan from Spanish outfit Levante in 2019. His switch was made permanent the following year for €5 million, and he has since gone on to become a fan favourite and vice-captain.

Simon has made 198 appearances for Nantes in all competitions, scoring 36 goals and registering 41 assists.

He was instrumental in the club’s 2022 Coupe de France triumph and has been their most productive attacking outlet once again this season. In Ligue 1 alone, Simon has recorded seven goals and nine assists – placing him joint-third in the division for assists.

Despite his consistent performances, Simon has reportedly opted not to extend his current contract, which runs until June 2026.

According to French outlet Foot Sur7, the Nigerian international is eyeing a move away, with Everton pushing to secure his signature ahead of the summer transfer window.

Reports suggest that Everton scouts have made recent trips to France to monitor Simon, and the player is said to have given the green light to a Premier League switch.

Nantes are believed to be holding out for a fee in the region of €15 million, despite his €12 million valuation on Transfermarkt.

A move to England now seems increasingly likely as Nantes brace for life without one of their most influential players.
