One-time Bundesliga winners, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, have slammed a €50m price tag on Super Eagles attacker, Victor Okoh Boniface, amidst transfer rumours linking him away from the club, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old had a stellar debut season with Die Werkself, scoring 21 goals and providing nine assists in 34 games across all competitions while winning the league title and the DFB Pokal under Xabi Alonso.

However, Boniface's form dipped this season as he scored just 11 goals in 27 outings for Leverkusen, largely due to injury. Ahead of the summer transfer window, it appears Leverkusen are trying to part ways with the Nigerian attacker.

As per German outlet, Sport Bild, Bayer Leverkusen have lowered their asking price for striker Victor Boniface as they are look to offload him this summer.

The former Union Saint-Gilloise forward was close to sealing a €70m to Al-Nassr during the winter transfer window before the Saudi Arabian side performed a u-turn and opted to sign Jhon Duran instead.

Since his failed January move, Boniface has been relegated to the bench and found the back of the net just twice as he struggled to perform when called upon.

Additionally, the Bayer bosses are concerned about his behaviour as it doesn't sit right with them, citing his most-recent on-pitch argument with Emiliano Buendia in their 4-1 win against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Heading into next season, Leverkusen do not want to have both Boniface and Patrik Schick on the books and all the signs point towards them selling the Nigerian. Die Werkself will ask for a fee of around €50m for Boniface, as they prepare for life under Erik Ten Hag.

Should Boniface exit the Bay Arena, he'll follow the steps of some members of Bundesliga-winning Leverkusen team that have left the club like Xabi Alonso, Jonathan Tah, Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz.
