Everything Ahmed Musa said after Super Eagles return

Super Eagles and Kano Pillars forward, Ahmed Musa, has revealed his delight after Eric Chelle included him in the Nigerian squad for the Unity Cup, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 32-year-old was last involved with the Nigerian National Team during the AFCON 2023 tournament under Jose Peseiro in Ivory Coast, and even then, he didn't play a single game.

After a 15-month break, Musa, alongside nine players from the NPFL, were included in the Super Eagles squad for the Unity Cup, as the head coach wants them to prove themselves.

“I'm sure they'll bring a lot of energy, aggressiveness, intensity, to play for this jersey. I picked ten players from the NPFL, and I tell you they're very good players.

“I think Ahmed [Musa] is a very great player, I think every Nigerian knows that, it's a fact, I think he can bring his quality and experience. So my vision is just like the other players, to give him a chance, so he needs to take that and who's us what he can do. If he plays well, he stays. I think there's a lot of pressure on him to perform,” the Super Eagles coach spoke on the NPFL players he invited, as previously reported by Soccernet.ng.

Quizzed about what it feels like to be back in the Super Eagles squad, the AFCON 2013 winner revealed his delight and hunger to put the Nigerian team where they belong.

“For me, I'm always very happy when I get a call-up, so it's good to be back. It's been a long time away, but I don't think there's any difference, so we'll just wait to see what happens on matchday.

“We can see a lot of home-based players in the squad, because I think the coach watches a lot of games in the Nigerian league, so I feel very happy for them.

“We know that a lot of Nigerians are very disappointed in the Super Eagles, but I'll always call on them to keep supporting us because that is what we need right now. The support will be of great help to us,” Ahmed Musa said in an interview with the NFF.

In 23 league games for Kano Pillars, Ahmed Musa scored ten goals, helping them to a 9th-place finish on the NPFL table.
