Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged his former club to do everything possible to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Red Devils have only scored 37 goals so far this season, with their natural centre-forwards—Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee—producing 14 goals in total.
With this lack of goals, the former West Ham United defender claims the Napoli-owned forward is exactly what the Red Devils need to bolster their attacking options.
Speaking on his Rio Presents podcast, Ferdinand passionately urged Manchester United to sign Osimhen, who is currently firing on all cylinders at Galatasaray.
“We need Osimhen, we need experience, we need someone who knows how to score,” Ferdinand said. “We need someone who can come and show these young stars of Man United how to do it. If I’m Man United, I’m making it happen.”

The former England international added that Osimhen’s consistent goal-scoring record at the highest level makes him the ideal candidate to lead the line for Ruben Amorim’s side.
“I want someone who knows their way around a football pitch at the elite level and knows how to score at the elite level consistently—Osimhen has done that. I want him here and now,” he added.

The ex-Man United captain said: “Yes, Osimhen hasn’t played in the Premier League, but I don’t care. I think he scores wherever he goes.”
Including Manchester United, Osimhen has continued to attract interest from top clubs across Europe following another solid season in front of goal.

The 26-year-old Nigerian scored three goals for the Super Eagles in their recent 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, taking his international tally to 26 goals in 41 appearances.
At club level, Osimhen tops the Süper Lig goalscoring chart with 20 goals in 23 matches and has tallied a total of 28 goals in 32 appearances for Galatasaray so far.
