Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest defender, Olaoluwa Temitayo Aina, has revealed he’s in contention to return to action with his club side before the end of the Premier League season, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 28-year-old, prior to sustaining a calf injury against Manchester United, started 30 of Forest’s games in the league this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

In Aina’s absence, Forest have struggled, having lost two of three games. Still, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are chasing a finish in the Premier League top four as they look to return to the UEFA Champions League places for the first time since the 1979/1980 season.

With five league games left to play this season, Aina is hoping he can make a quick return from his calf injury to help his side over the line as the top four race heats up.

“Hopefully, I’ll be fit soon. I’m just taking it day by day to be fair. It’s come along really well. I tore my calf, but it’s not too bad. It’s a grade two tear. Hopefully, God willing, I’ll be back before the end of the season,” the former Chelsea defender said in an interview with Gary Lineker on The Rest is Football Podcast.

“It’s hard watching them play and I can’t add anything to the team. In my case, I just miss training days, but these things happen and you just have to support and be positive.”
