As the 2024/25 Premier League season edges towards its climax, Nigeria’s stars in England’s top flight are seeing mixed fortunes on the pitch, Soccernet.ng reports.
Some are gunning for Europe, others are battling relegation — but when it comes to earnings, who really tops the money charts?
With Emmanuel Dennis now in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers, just seven Nigerian players remain active in the Premier League. While their performances differ, their weekly wages offer a compelling insight into how much their clubs value them
So, who is Nigeria’s best-paid footballer in the English Premier League today? Let’s take a closer look — from the bottom of the pay scale to the very top, as per Capology.
7. Paul Onuachu – £30,000/week | £1.56m/year | Contract till June 2026

Onuachu’s time at Southampton has been largely forgettable.
After failing to secure a winter move to Turkey, the towering striker only found playing time and form in the second half of the season under manager Ivan Juric, scoring four goals and assisting once.
Unfortunately, his efforts were too little, too late, as the Saints were relegated by matchday 31. The 30-year-old enters the final year of his contract this summer with uncertainty surrounding his future.
6. Ola Aina – £40,000/week | £2m/year | Contract till June 2025

Before cupping an injury last week, Aina had been one of the standout right-backs in the league this season.
The Nottingham Forest man made 30 appearances, netting twice and claiming one assist. With his current deal set to expire in 2025, the former Torino man could be in line for a pay rise or a big free move should he choose not to renew.
5. Calvin Bassey – £45,000/week | £2.34m/year | Contract till June 2027

The versatile Fulham defender has continued to impress, following up a solid debut campaign with an even more assured presence at the back this term.
Strong, agile, and tactically aware, Bassey has played a key role in Fulham’s pursuit of a European finish. Still just 25, he could well be attracting interest from the league’s top clubs soon — and with that, a wage bump.

4. Taiwo Awoniyi – £50,000/week | £2.6m/year | Contract till June 2027

It’s been a frustrating campaign for Awoniyi, who has struggled with injury and fallen down the pecking order behind an in-form Chris Wood.
With limited chances to justify his wage, the striker will be hoping for a reset next season. His contract still has two years left, giving him time to bounce back.
3. Joe Aribo – £70,000/week | £3.64m/year | Contract till June 2026

Aribo is Southampton’s second-highest earner, behind only goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Despite scoring three goals in 30 appearances, the midfielder couldn’t prevent another relegation for the Saints. With his contract still running, Aribo may opt to move on if a new challenge — and the right offer — comes along.
2. Wilfred Ndidi – £75,000/week | £3.9m/year | Contract till June 2027

Ndidi remains a key figure at Leicester City, but both player and club will be disappointed with a potential return to the Championship.
The Nigeria international has registered four assists in 22 games this term. But that will not count for much as the Foxes are desined for the drop having lost their last eight matches without scoring.
Still, Ndidi’s status as Nigeria’s second-highest-paid Premier League player ensures his value remains strong heading into the summer.
1. Alex Iwobi – £80,000/week | £4.16m/year | Contract till June 2028

Leading the financial pack for Nigeria is Fulham’s Alex Iwobi.
The midfielder has been in sensational form this season, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 31 league appearances. His standout display against Liverpool — where he scored and assisted in a 3-2 win — reminded many of his quality.
With three years left on his contract, Iwobi is Fulham’s fourth-highest earner and Nigeria’s best-paid Premier League player. A European qualification for Fulham could well earn him an improved deal or lucrative bonuses.
