Super Eagles and Fulham attacking midfielder, Alex Chuka Iwobi, was on the scoresheet in Fulham’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea at the Craven Cottage this afternoon, Soccernet.ng reports.

The former Arsenal man started his 31st of Fulham’s 33 games this season, and he made it count by scoring his 9th goal of the English Premier League campaign.

The Cottagers started the West London derby on the front foot, having a goal chalked off by VAR in the fourth minute before eventually breaking the deadlock in the 20th minute, thanks to a brilliant left-footed strike from Iwobi.

Fulham moved forward down the left wing, with Sessegnon turning away from James, before sliding the ball through to Iwobi on the edge of the box. The former Everton man side-footed the ball into the back of the net to score the opener.

However, it was Nigeria-eligible teenager, Tyrique George, who levelled the score for the two-time UEFA Champions League winners.

Chelsea left it late to seal all three points at Craven Cottage, like Marco Silva’s side did at Stamford Bridge back in December.

A brilliant counter-attack led by Cole Palmer saw him play Enzo Fernandez in on the right flank. The Argentine drilled a low ball into Neto’s path.

Chelsea are now 5th on the English Premier League standings, one point behind Manchester City, which puts them in a strong position for UEFA Champions League qualification, while Fulham are 9th, losing ground on their chances of participating in European competitions next season.
