Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has spoken about his long-standing relationship with Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina, Soccernet.ng reports.
Their bond, one of the longest in the Super Eagles squad, has amazed many Nigerians who admire how both players have maintained their friendship over the years.
For the former Arsenal and Everton star, his connection with Aina goes beyond mere friendship—it is a brotherhood that has lasted more than 18 years.
Iwobi and Aina’s bond
Both players grew up on the same street as children. While they are close in age, Iwobi was in Year 5, while Aina was in Year 4.
Appearing on Season 5, Episode 1 of the Is This Seat Taken? podcast, Iwobi reflected on their relationship, revealing how much Aina means to him.
“People say we are friends, but we are brothers,” Iwobi said.
It is remarkable to see how they went from playing football on the streets as kids to now representing Nigeria together on the international stage.

Iwobi and Aina’s Super Eagles records
Iwobi made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2015, while Aina followed in 2017. So far, Iwobi has earned 80 caps, scoring 10 goals, while Aina has made 40 appearances and provided three assists.
