Liverpool are reportedly plotting a summer move for in-form Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, with the Italian side valuing the Nigerian international at €60 million, Soccernet.ng reports.

According to Corriere dello Sport via CaughtOffside, the Reds are monitoring Lookman’s progress closely following his impressive season in Serie A.

However, they are not alone in the race, with Juventus also interested in the 27-year-old.

Should Liverpool meet the €60 million valuation, Lookman would become Nigeria’s second most expensive player in history – behind only Victor Osimhen, whose €80 million switch from Lille to Napoli in 2020 remains the country’s record transfer fee.

Currently, the second-highest fee paid for a Nigerian player is Alex Iwobi’s €30 million move from Arsenal to Everton in 2019. Iwobi also features again in fourth place after his €25 million transfer to Fulham last summer.

Kelechi Iheanacho ranks third following his €27.7 million move from Manchester City to Leicester City in 2017.

Nathan Tella and Odion Ighalo share fifth place, both having commanded €23.3 million fees — Tella joining Bayer Leverkusen in 2023, while Ighalo moved to China’s CC Yatai from Watford in 2017.

Lookman is currently 19th on that list due to his €18 million transfer from Everton to RB Leipzig in 2019.

A switch to Anfield would represent not just the biggest move of his career, but also a statement of intent from Liverpool as they look to bolster their attacking options.

The former England youth international has contributed 25 goals and assists this season, consistently delivering for Atalanta over the last three campaigns.

Though his previous Premier League spells with Everton, Leicester, and Fulham were less prolific, Lookman was still developing at the time, often playing in underperforming sides.

Now entering his peak years, the winger appears more mature, versatile, and clinical.

Comfortable across the front three, he could provide valuable depth and competition to Liverpool’s current options, potentially offering a significant upgrade on Diogo Jota or Darwin Núñez.

While the €60 million price tag may raise eyebrows — particularly given Liverpool’s need to strengthen other areas — Lookman’s resurgence in Italy suggests he could be a Premier League force with the right platform.

It could be time to improve his Premier League record that currently stands at 11 goals and six assists in 96 appearances.
