Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze was linked with a transfer to Fulham on transfer deadline day, but the deal fell through due to lack of time, Soccernet.ng reports.
In recent months, there have been a lot of speculations that Chukwueze could leave AC Milan. This is as the Super Eagles star has struggled to make a mark since leaving Villarreal two years ago.
Chukwueze has contributed seven goals and four assists in 58 appearances for the Rossoneri. And that is just short of what was expected of him when he joined the club.
As of last December, Chukwueze was linked with a transfer to Arsenal as a replacement for English star Bukayo Saka, who suffered a hamstring injury. However, the Super Eagles also suffered a hamstring injury, ending all the speculation.
Chukwueze returned to action last week and even scored the winner for AC Milan in their hard-fought 3-2 win over Parma.
It seemed like that goal would cement his place in coach Sergio Conceicao's plans. However, on transfer deadline day, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Fulham had contacted AC Milan over the possible signing of Chukwueze. But nothing concrete came out of that.
In a new development, AC Milan TMN has revealed that the deal fell through due to time constraints. Fulham wanted Chukwueze on loan with a buy option included in the deal, but the time was too short for all the parties to agree on the intricacies of the transfer.
As it stands, Chukwueze will have to stay in AC Milan until the end of the season. But if he performs well before the end of the campaign, Fulham could be back for him.
