Raphael Onyedika: Nigeria star responds to Man City, AC Milan, PSG links amid Club Brugge exit rumours

Nigeria international Raphael Onyedika has reacted to growing speculation linking him with a potential move away from Club Brugge, with clubs such as Manchester City, AC Milan, and FC Porto reportedly monitoring his progress, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 23-year-old midfielder played a key role in Club Brugge’s Belgian Pro League triumph last season and has continued to impress this term.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, particularly in the Champions League, where he notably scored against Manchester City at the Etihad in Brugge’s final group stage match.

With his stock rising, several top European clubs have been linked with a summer move for the former FC Midtjylland star.

While reports suggest AC Milan and Porto are the frontrunners for his signature, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain have also been mentioned as possible suitors.

Despite the growing transfer speculation, Onyedika remains focused on his current club.

“I don't know what the future holds,” Onyedika told Sportsboom.

“At the moment, I am very happy at Club Brugge. I am focused on doing my best and helping the team. I love the club, the fans, and everything that has to do with the environment here.”

The Nigerian midfielder also dismissed suggestions that he is actively considering a move.

“At the moment, I am fully committed to the present, and I have no further plans,” he added.

Onyedika joined Club Brugge from FC Midtjylland in 2022 for €10 million, and his value has since risen significantly.

According to Transfermarkt, the Nigerian’s market worth currently stands at €16 million, but Brugge are expected to demand over €20 million for any potential transfer.

The Belgian giants could be tempted to sell this summer, as it represents their last realistic chance to maximize their profit on the midfielder, who remains under contract until 2027. With multiple top-tier clubs showing interest, a bidding war could see his valuation rise even further.

Raphael Onyedika features in Brugge’s victory over Atalanta

Onyedika underlined his importance to Club Brugge once again on Wednesday night, delivering a strong performance in their 2-1 win over Atalanta in Belgium.

The Super Eagles star played the full 90 minutes as Brugge secured a controversial victory in the first leg of their European knockout tie.

Ferran Jutglà opened the scoring for Brugge in the 15th minute, but Atalanta responded just before halftime through Mario Pašalić.

The match seemed destined to end in a draw until deep into stoppage time when Brugge were awarded a contentious penalty in the 94th minute.

Gustaf Nilsson held his nerve to convert from the spot, giving Brugge a crucial advantage heading into the second leg in Italy.
