Turkish Super Lig for another time got hit with a fresh controversy with Fenerbahce SK launching a scathing attack on their rivals Galatasaray, Soccernet.ng reports.

This follows a chaotic scenes that unfolded during their match against Adana Demirspor, when the visiting team left the pitch angrily after a 1-nil down.

In the 30th minute of the game, the bottom-placed Süper Lig side abandoned the match in protest after a penalty was awarded in favour of the home team.

Galatasaray vs Demispor: What happened?

A 12th-minute penalty was awarded to Galatasaray after Dries Mertens was brought down. Adana Demirspor players saw this as diving and made a protest, which the VAR upheld the referee’s decision, and Álvaro Morata converted from the spot.

Seizing a break in play due to an injury to Barasi, Adana Demirspor’s players, led by coach Mustafa Alper Avci, walked off the pitch in protest.

The referees soon followed, which prompted jeers from the crowd. Ten minutes later, the match was officially suspended, with Galatasaray’s players greeting their supporters before heading into the tunnel.

Fenerbahce’s Furious Statement

Amid the growing tensions in Turkish football, Fenerbahce replied to a tweet by Galatasaray on their official X (formerly Twitter) page to release a scathing statement accusing Galatasaray of manipulating the system,

The statements reads: “With your irregular contracts, black market tickets, and illegal betting advertisements, you are harming our State and the Turkish Football Federation.

“Your guided media members and insincere statements are deceiving the public.

“Continue to mislead referees and football fans with your football players who have been making deceptive moves for years!

“Thanks to you, there is neither trust nor justice left! But the most innocent and victimised one is always you! Congratulations, what have you done to Turkish football?”

Following this statement, the divide between the two Istanbul-based clubs deepens further, as Turkey’s top two clubs remain locked in a fierce title race.

Osimhen Sparks More Drama

During the match between Galatasaray and Adana Demirspor, Super Eagles Victor Osimhen was seen energizing the home fans with a traditional Galatasaray chant.
