Federation Cup: Ahmed Musa’s Kano Pillars win, Amunike’s first Heartland trophy, penalty heartbreak in Lagos

The State Federation Cup finals were played across various stadiums in Nigeria, with Kano Pillars, Nasarawa United, Heartland FC, and Inter Lagos among the title winners, Soccernet.ng reports.

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa played a key role as Kano Pillars clinched the Kano FA Cup with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Barau FC at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

Hadi Olarewaju was the star of the show, netting a superb hat-trick, while Musa assisted his second goal as Maisu Gida lifted their first trophy of the season.

In Lagos, Inter Lagos emerged as the new Lagos State FA Cup champions, stunning NPFL side Ikorodu City on penalties.

After a goalless draw in regulation time, Inter triumphed 5-4 in the shootout, with Wisdom Ubani missing the decisive spot-kick for two-time defending champions Ikorodu City.

In Akwa Ibom, Akwa United secured the Imo State FA Cup title with a 1-0 win over Eagle Eye Academy.

Ibrahim Akande struck the decisive goal in the 75th minute, executing a brilliant volley over the goalkeeper to seal Akwa United’s place in the national Federation Cup.

In Owerri, former Golden Eaglets U-17 World Cup-winning coach Emmanuel Amunike guided Heartland FC to a 2-0 victory over OISA FC.

Surajudeen Lawal scored twice in the second half, handing Amunike his first title as Heartland boss.

At the Lafia City Stadium, Nasarawa United eased to a 2-0 win over FC Basira to claim the Nasarawa FA Cup title.

Shina Kumater and Garba Abubakar scored on either side of halftime to secure the win for the NPFL side. As champions, Nasarawa United received ₦200,000, while runners-up FC Basira were awarded ₦100,000.

In Benin, Bendel Insurance were crowned Edo State FA Cup champions after a dominant 3-0 win over Assemblies Of God FC.

In Oyo State, Ibadan warriors Shooting Stars clinched the Oyo FA Cup after defeating Crown FC of Ogbomoso 4-2 on penalties.

After a goalless draw in regulation time, goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal emerged as the hero, saving two penalty kicks to hand 3SC the title.

In Jos, Plateau United claimed the Plateau State President Federation Cup title with a 2-0 win over Mighty Jets Feeder.

In Enugu, Rangers lifted the 2025 Enugu State Federation Cup with a commanding 3-0 victory over Ijele FC at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side redeemed themselves after an early exit last year. The Flying Antelopes last won the President Federation Cup in 2018.

Meanwhile, El-Kanemi Warriors remain the defending champions of the national Federation Cup.
