Spanish Laliga club Real Sociedad will make their final decision on Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar during this summer’s pre-season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Sadiq joined Real Sociedad from Almeria two years ago in a club-record €20 million transfer. The Nigerian joined the club with a big reputation after registering 43 goals and 19 assists in 84 games for Almeria, helping them gain promotion to the Spanish top flight.
Unfortunately for Sadiq, the deal has not panned out well for both parties. The 27-year-old striker scored on his debut for Real Sociedad, but he sustained a cruciate ligament tear in his second game, which ensured that he missed the rest of the campaign.
However, he returned to action last season, but he failed to deliver. Coach Imanol Alguacil gave him many chances at the start of the season, but his chances reduced drastically towards the end of the campaign.
This summer, there have been serious talks that Sadiq could leave, with Sevilla, Getafe, and Valencia touted as potential destinations.
But in a new development according to Estadio Desportivo, Sadiq may just get another chance to prove himself. If he performs well during this pre-season, Real Sociedad may reconsider selling him.
However, if Sadiq does not perform, both parties may have to part ways finally this summer.
