Newly-promoted Turkish club Goztepe are in talks with Super Eagles striker Stephen Odey in view of a potential transfer this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.
Goztepe just got promoted to the Turkish topflight after finishing second in the second division. And following their promotion, they are looking to add some quality to their team.
Recall that the club was previously linked with Super Eagles star Paul Onuachu, but nothing concrete has emerged from those talks, as the 30-year-old wants to join Trabzonspor instead.
But in a new development according to Turkish outlet, Sozcu Spor, Goztepe have opened talks with Odey in view of a deal this summer.
The deal is expected to be a permanent striker will arrive at a decent price, as he is valued at €1 million according to Transfermarkt.
Odey started his career at former NPFL club MFM FC, but he joined Swiss side FC Zurich, before moving to Genk in 2019.
Unfortunately for the 26-year-old striker, he struggled at the club, and had to go on two loan stints at Amiens and Randers, before later signing for the latter permanently in 2022.
At Randers, Odey has been decent, registering 23 goals and eight assists in 97 appearances. He could add some bite to Goztepe’s attack with his physicality and impressive work rate up front.
Odey made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2017, when he was still at MFM. Bur he has not played for Nigeria since then.
