Former Sheffield United midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, heavily linked with a move to Italian Serie A side Lazio, is set for a medical, Soccernet.ng reports.
Previously, Soccernet.ng reported that Lazio is intensifying efforts to secure the signing of the promising Nigerian midfielder, currently with Turkish club Hatayspor.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Dele-Bashiru, who impressed in Nigeria’s clash against South Africa by scoring an excellent equalizer, is close to undergoing a medical with Lazio.
The Nigerian midfielder, who has a background in Manchester City’s youth setup, has been a standout player for Hatayspor, contributing seven goals in his first eight league matches. This performance has attracted significant interest from clubs in both Saudi Arabia and Italy.
According to a previous report from Alfredo Pedulla, negotiations are progressing rapidly, with a conference call scheduled within the next 48 hours to finalize the transfer.
Following the medical, the deal is expected to be around €6 million plus bonuses, aligning with the €7 million release clause for international clubs in Dele-Bashiru’s contract.
The midfielder has reportedly shown keen interest in playing for the Italian side, and will be looking forward to a new challenge away from Turkey.
Dele-Bashiru will join fellow Nigerians Isaac Success, Maduka Okoye, Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen, and Samuel Chukwueze, who are excelling in the Italian League.
