Transfer: Lazio set to finalize deal for Nigerian star who shone in draw over South Africa

The Super Eagles of Nigeria settled for a draw against South Africa thanks to an equalizer from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru

Lazio is accelerating its efforts to secure the signing of Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, the promising Nigerian midfielder currently with Turkish club Hatayspor, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 23-year-old, who impressed in Nigeria’s clash against South Africa, scoring an equalizer with a stunning strike, is inching closer to a move to Serie A.

Dele-Bashiru, who has a background with Manchester City’s youth setup has been a standout player for Hatayspor. His contributions include seven goals in his first eight league matches, leading to significant interest from clubs in both Saudi Arabia and Italy.

In recent developments, Lazio officials and Dele-Bashiru’s agent, Paolo Paloni, held a productive meeting at Formello.

However, latest report from Alfredo Pedulla has revealed that negotiations are progressing rapidly, with a conference call scheduled within the next 48 hours to finalize the transfer.

The deal is expected to be around €6 million, plus bonuses, aligning with the €7 million release clause for international clubs in Dele-Bashiru’s contract.

The Nigerian midfielder has expressed his keenness for joining Lazio, where he aims to further his career in Serie A and continue his development as an international player.

As Lazio prepares to finalize the transfer of Luis Alberto to Al Duhail, they are simultaneously working to bring the Nigerian international into the squad.

Comparisons have been drawn between Dele-Bashiru and Michael Folorunsho, another Nigerian midfielder who thrived under Baroni at Verona. Lazio hopes that Dele-Bashiru will bring similar dynamism and impact to their midfield.
