English Championship side Leeds United have are plotting a summer swoop for Super Eagles defender Jordan Torunarigha, Soccernet.ng reports.
Leeds United play Southampton in the English Championship playoff final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. They are looking to return to the Premier League just a season after suffering relegation.
If they eventually gain promotion, they will be looking to get some reinforcements. And according to Inside Football, coach Daniel Farke is keen on improving his defense. Nigerian defender Torunarigha has been identified as a top target for Leeds United.
The 26-year-old center back has been at Gent since 2022, and he has become an important part of their backline.
At 6ft3, Torunarigha had an impressive aerial presence, he is quick, and poses a significant threat to opposition defences.
Transfermarkt values the Nigeria international at €5million, but Gent could demand up to €8 million before they let him go because he is one of their best players.
If Torunarigha moves to Leeds United, he would be expected to hit the ground running because the club risks losing Joe Rodon, who has been important for them this season.
Torunarigha has one cap for Nigeria. He started his international career playing for the German youth teams, but he switched allegiance and started playing for the Super Eagles in 2023.
