Report: PSG set to shatter Victor Osimhen’s Premier League dream

Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has earlier declared his ambition to play in the English Premier League

French side Paris Saint-Germain is poised to trigger the €120 million release clause for Nigerian international Victor Osimhen, as reported by Soccernet.ng.

Osimhen’s new contract with Napoli includes a release clause of around €130 million, necessitating potential suitors to break the bank.

Multiple sources, quoting Il Mattino, have revealed that PSG is prepared to meet this transfer clause, potentially positioning Osimhen as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is rumored to be departing the Parc des Princes outfit at the end of the season.

However, this move could thwart Osimhen’s aspirations of playing in the English Premier League, which as suggested a desire to follow in the footsteps of his football role model, Didier Drogba, at Chelsea.

Meanwhile, other Premier League clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal have also shown interest in signing the Super Eagles talisman to strengthen their squads for the upcoming season.

Osimhen has previously stated his ambition to ply his trade in the Premier League, indicating a forthcoming move away from the Stadio Diego Maradona.

“I will definitely play in the Premier League. But for now, I have other plans in my career that I’m looking forward to. When the time comes, everyone will know,” he said.

Italian football expert Gaetano Fedele recently disclosed that Napoli’s prolific striker is poised for a summer transfer to the Premier League.

In an interview with Tele A via Area Napoli, Fedele confirmed Osimhen’s impending departure, as stipulated in his contract renewal with Napoli.

“There is a clause in the renewal contract signed by Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian has already agreed with another club and will leave in the summer,” Fedele affirmed.

While Fedele did not reveal Osimhen’s next destination, he hinted at a move to England during the discussion.

“I am convinced that the Nigerian goes to England. Trust me, he knows where to go,” Fedele added.

However, interest from other clubs the Red and Blues could potentially alter Osimhen’s career path.
