Dutch Eredivisie side Ajax are planning a mass exodus of players this summer, and Super Eagles-eligible forward Chuba Akpom is one of the candidates, as the club plans to rebuild after a disappointing season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Akpom joined Ajax from Middlesbrough last summer in a deal worth €12.3 million. At the time, it looked like a good deal for the Godenzonen, as the 28-year-old forward was just coming off a season where he registered 28 goals and two assists in 38 Championship appearances.
To accentuate how much belief the club had in him, Akpom was handed the iconic number 10 jersey.
Unfortunately, the deal has not gone as both parties would have liked, as Akpom has not had much game time despite Ajax’s struggles this season.
The Nigerian forward has registered ten goals in 23 appearances for the Godenzonen, but most of his appearances have been off the bench.
Ajax have been struggling for the last two seasons, and Akpom was one of the 14 signings they brought in last summer to stop the bleeding. Unfortunately, most of them have flopped, and according to reports, the club wants to let them go, including Akpom.

If Ajax decides to let go of Akpom, he would surely get suitors from England, but after tasting top-flight football, he would fancy a move to the Premier League. The Nigerian forward would also be available for a decent price, as Ajax may not sell him for more than $10 million, especially after his average season.
