Gift Orban has failed to net in his last 4 games for Gent, after starting the season with an impressive 6 goals in 6 games
Super Eagles’ uncapped striker, Gift Orban was shown a straight red card in Gent’s 2-1 home win against Eupen in a Jupiler Pro League match played on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.
On Thursday, the 21-year-old missed Gent’s 1-1 draw against Ukrainian side FK Zorya Luhansk in their Uefa Europa Conference League opener due to an injury he sustained in their last league match.
Orban, who has been one of the standout players for the Buffalos since joining the club in January, was thrown straight into the starting lineup having recovered on time for the visit of KAS Eupen to the KAA Gent Arena on Sunday for their seventh league game of the season.
But it resulted in an unlucky day for the Nigerian striker as he was shown a straight red card just a few minutes to the end of the first half for shoving Rune Paeshuyse in the neck, causing the Eupen defender to collapse on the turf in pain. His dismissal was confirmed after a review of the video assistant referee.

The 21-year-old has had an exemplary disciplinary record since landing in Europe until his moment of madness today.
Before the visit of Eupen, he had never been sent off in any of his previous matches for his former club Stabeak, and Gent.
Despite playing with 10 players for more than fifty minutes, Gent fought hard to secure all three points thanks to second-half goals from Sven Kums and Tarik Tissoudali.
The win leaves Gent in first position with 17 points in the 16-team table after 7 games. Hein Vanhaezebrouk’s side will face Antwerp in their next fixture on Wednesday.
