Transfers: Tottenham begin talks to sign promising Nigerian talent to replace Harry Kane

Gift Orban has been recently linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur after a remarkable season with Gent that saw him register 20 goals in 22 games.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly opened talks with Gent over the signing of Nigeria’s Gift Orban, Soccernet.ng reports

It was revealed a few weeks ago that the North London club are looking for a replacement for Harry Kane, who has since left the club to join Bayern Munich.

In another development a few days ago, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Tottenham have a concrete interest in bringing the Nigerian striker to England this summer.

However, an early controversy in the deal over the transfer fee is reported to be endangering the negotiations, as the Premier League side are not willing to pay more than £30m Gent are asking for the 21-year-old.

Tottenham haven’t tabled a bid yet, but talks are ongoing, and the Premier League side will send their first offer to the Belgian club in the coming days according to Sacha Tavolieri

The Nigeria International has scored 25 goals from 26 appearances since he joined the Jupiler Pro League side from Stabeak in January. This has seen him attract interest from several clubs, including Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Gent are asking for more than £30m for Orban and this seems too expensive for Spurs, who recently sold English striker Kane for £100m to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Should both clubs later settle for £30m, this will generate a massive profit for Gent, who acquired Orban for just £3.3m from Norwegian club Stabeak only 7 months ago.
