Odion Ighalo recently revealed that he would love to play in the NPFL for free under certain conditions, but that dream might not become a reality as he sets for Saudi League return.
Nigerian forward, Odion Ighalo, is gearing up for a fresh challenge in the Saudi League, where he will rub shoulders with top European stars who have recently moved to the league, Soccernet.ng reports.
Ighalo’s time in Saudi Arabia was spent by numerous personal and collective triumphs, notably emerging as the top scorer in the Saudi League, clinching the Saudi League championship, and securing the King’s Cup.
His prowess extended globally, as he led his team to the prestigious Club World Cup, eventually reaching the finals against football powerhouse Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, after two successful stints with Al-Shabab and Al-Hilal in the Asian league, the former Watford FC whose contract recently expired with Al Hilal is ready to take up a new challenge with a club in Saudi league.
Previous reports by the Nigerian media hinted at reigning NPFL champions, Enyimba, expressing keen interest in securing the former Manchester United striker’s services.
During an insightful interview on Elegbete TV, Ighalo revealed his openness to don the Nigerian league jersey for a period ranging from six months to a year if specific conditions, such as security, comprehensive media coverage, and proficient refereeing are met.
But, with the recent developments, the Nigerian forward will be making a return to the Saudi Pro League to pick up a new challenge.
