In anticipation of the summer transfer window, Galatasaray, the reigning champions of the Turkish Super Lig, are interested in acquiring the services of Kelechi Iheanacho, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to Takvim, the 26-year-old Nigerian striker has been added to Galatasaray’s wishlist.
Recall that earlier reports suggest that Galatasaray’s arch-rivals Besiktas have already made an offer for the player.
Galatasaray, currently negotiating with Paris Saint-Germain for the permanent signing of Mauro Icardi, have not abandoned their pursuit of Iheanacho.
The forward is reportedly open to leaving Leicester City, as the Foxes were recently relegated from the English Premier League.
Iheanacho is keen to avoid playing in the Championship and may be enticed by the prospect of joining a team competing in the prestigious UEFA Champions League next season.
It is worth noting that Iheanacho’s contract with Leicester is set to expire in 2024.
The player is currently valued at 18 million euros, a price tag that may be too steep for Galatasaray. Consequently, the Turkish club might opt for a loan deal to secure the talented striker.
Iheanacho currently earns 4.5 million euros annually at Leicester City, a figure that Galatasaray would need to consider in their negotiations.
During last season, Iheanacho scored five goals and provided five assists in 28 appearances for Leicester City. Such performances earned him the distinguished title of the club’s Player of the Season.
Throughout his career, Iheanacho has accumulated an impressive record of 81 goals and 45 assists in 279 games.
