Okereke and Dessers set to go down with Cremonese after Juventus loss

Cremonese have struggled this season, and they could return to Serie B next weekend if they fail to win

Nigerian strikers Cyriel Dessers and David Okereke‘s Cremonese side could get relegated from Serie A next week following their 2-0 loss to Juventus at the Allianz Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.

Dessers was ruled out of Cremonese’s trip to Juventus because of a minor injury, but Okereke was passed fit for the tie.

Cremonese managed to hold their own in the first half despite Juventus’ continuous attacks. Okereke was caged in the first half, failing to register a shot.

Eventually, goals from Nicolo Fagioli and Bremer sealed the 2-0 win for Juventus. Okereke hardly saw much of the ball, and he ended the game without a goal attempt.

The loss leave Cremonese in 19th place, six points away from safety, with three games left. This means that if Lecce who occupy the 16th position, and Spezia who sit 17th win their next games, and Cremonese fail to win at home Bologna, they will automatically drop to the Serie B just a season after they got promoted.

Dessers has not played second-tier football since the 2016/17 season for NAC Breda. And Okereke has not experienced second-tier football since the 18/19 season when he played for Spezia. Okereke also suffered relegation with Venezia last season.
