Since January 4, Taiwo Awoniyi has been absent from the Nottingham Forest squad
Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper is on the verge of receiving a significant boost from Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi.
Due to a groin injury sustained in their 1-0 defeat to Southampton at Saint Mary’s Stadium, the Nigerian forward has been left out of Cooper’s squad.
The Nigerian international was gradually adjusting to life in West Bridgford and was starting to catch up with the English Premier League’s quick pace.
With this, the Nigerian’s contribution to the team was beginning to be felt as he scored in many pivotal games, including a lone goal in their victory against the Saints in January.
Cooper, the Welsh manager, has provided many updates on Awoniyi’s injury status throughout the weeks, most notably asserting that the Nigerian is back on the grass and nearing a comeback.
The 25-year-old is reportedly getting close to making a comeback, according to a recent post shared by Nottingham Forest Journalist Callum Castel and a post made by the ex-Union Berlin player.
The Nigerian can be seen working out and strengthening his legs in the picture shared on Awoniyi’s social media feed.

Due to his injury, the Super Eagle was omitted from Jose Peseiro’s squad to take on Guinea-Bissau in their upcoming doubleheader Africa qualifying match.
But the Nigerian is making good use of the international break to get fit for the Tricky Trees’ next game against Wolverhampton at the City Ground Stadium.
