Where is the Passion? The Super Eagles team should not be a backup plan for Michael Olise

There have been some reports that Crystal Palace forward, Michael Olise might be willing to play for the Nigerian Super Eagles if he does not get a call-up from France Football Association.

To join Jose Peseiro’s army, the former Reading footballer is willing to shun the Algerian Desert Warriors.

It should be noted that the 21-year-old has the option of playing for the Three Lions of England, the France National Team, Nigeria, and Algeria.

However, contrary reports have been made by various local media sites, claiming that the French star has no intention of pledging allegiance to another team other than The Blues.

Regardless of the veracity of these claims, it would be damning to hear a foreign player identify the Nigerian national team as a backup option. If France doesn’t call him up, Crystal Palace number seven may end up doing this.

In addition to having the best sponsorship deals and infrastructure, European nations excel on the international scene, owing to their players’ devotion to representing their nations.

Players from Ghana, Senegal, and even Morocco have recently shown the globe that dedication to playing for one’s nation can go a long way.

It is proposed that this practice be implemented by the Nigerian national team, and it is thought that doing so would help the squad achieve greatness.

This means that the Nigerian Football Federation, or NFF, should only award Super Eagles jerseys to people who are prepared to battle for the country’s flag, not to those who see it as a choice.

Along with the players from Nigeria who play overseas, those from Nigeria itself are capable of providing the necessary exceptional performance when the nation travels to compete in international competitions.

The Super Eagles should, however, never have the option of calling up players from other leagues, and if they do, only those players should do so who have “no regrets” about joining the squad.
