Nottingham Forest defeated Leicester City despite the absence of Taiwo Awoniyi.

Nottingham Forest looks more hungry for points as they defeated East Midland rivals Leicester at City Ground Stadium.

Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho could do little as The Tricky Tress fought their hearts out in their 2-0 win against the Foxes and seemed more desperate in front of goal.

The Host, however, added more salt to Leicester’s injury and mount more pressure on Brendan Rogers as they clinched their first-time back-to-back Premier League victory.

The game’s outstanding player was Brennan Johnson, whose double gave Steve Cooper’s team a crucial win after breaking the deadlock in the second half.

The 21-year-old quickly pounced on a through pass from Morgan Gibbs-White, turned Danny Ward, and fired home his fifth goal of the year to start the scoring.

Thought to be offside, the goal was eventually confirmed to be a goal by the video assistant referee.

The second goal was also made by the same pair; Johnson received a beautiful pass from Gibbs-White and fired it into the far corner.

Harvey Barnes missed Leicester’s greatest opportunity in the first half when he skewed a first-time shot wide when unmarked inside the penalty area. Leicester did not provide much of an offensive threat.

Ndidi, was confined in his contribution to the game, while Iheanacho, a substitute who played in the second half, had a similar fate.

Taiwo Awoniyi, who is still deemed unfit, did not play for Nottingham, while another Nigerian, Emmanuel Dennis, was an unused substitute.

With the victory, Forest moves up to 13th place in the standings, five points above the bottom three. Leicester, which has now lost four straight Premier League games, is in 15th place, only two points above the relegation zone.
