Transfer Deadline Day: 3 Super Eagles stars facing major decisions

The Transfer Deadline Day is almost here, and in these final hours of the summer transfer window, many players could still move and that includes Super Eagles stars, Soccernet.ng reports.

While some Nigerian internationals have already settled their futures, others remain at the centre of transfer discussions for very different reasons.

The Premier League window closes at 11pm on Tuesday, September 1, meaning there is still time for late negotiations, while some European markets remain open beyond that date.

For these three Super Eagles stars, however, the next few hours could have a major impact on the direction of their club careers.

Players Who Could Move on Transfer Deadline Day

Victor Osimhen

Osimhen remains the biggest name involved in Nigeria's late transfer drama. The striker only made his permanent move to Galatasaray last year, but that has not stopped Arsenal from exploring his availability.

The Gunners have held discussions with the Turkish champions, although Osimhen's wages and Galatasaray's financial demands remain significant obstacles.

There have also been reports suggesting that Osimhen is prepared to remain in Istanbul, despite the continued interest from England.

That leaves the 27-year-old with a big decision. Staying would give him stability at a club where he has already established himself as a leading figure and where Champions League football remains an attraction.

A move to Arsenal, meanwhile, would be another major step in his career and a return to the Premier League, where he could test himself against a different style of football.

The issue is that this is not a straightforward deadline-day deal. Arsenal must convince Galatasaray to sell, agree on the financial structure and satisfy Osimhen's wage demands.

With the striker's future still attracting attention, his could be the most expensive Nigerian transfer story of the final hours.

Wilfred Ndidi

Ndidi's situation is very different. The Super Eagles captain joined Beşiktaş from Leicester City last summer and had a decent first season in Turkey. However, Saudi Arabian clubs have continued to show interest in the midfielder, with Al-Ittihad and Al Diriyah among the clubs linked with him.

Beşiktaş have previously made it clear that they would consider an acceptable offer, although the club's sporting director also confirmed that no official written bid had arrived when the issue was addressed publicly. Ndidi therefore faces a choice between continuity and another lucrative move.

At 29, a move to Saudi Arabia could represent one of the biggest financial opportunities remaining in his career. But staying at Beşiktaş would allow him to continue playing regularly in Europe and avoid another major change only a year after leaving Leicester.

There is also an important timing factor. Unlike Premier League clubs, Turkish teams have more time to conduct business, with Turkey's window scheduled to remain open until September 4.

So even if Ndidi stays put on England's Transfer Deadline Day, there could still be a late twist.

Femi Azeez

Azeez may have the most immediate decision of the three. Brighton have stepped up their efforts to sign the Millwall winger and have already submitted multiple bids. Their latest offer was worth just over £10 million, but Millwall have rejected it because they value the Nigeria international at around £15 million.

The 25-year-old is reportedly keen on the move, which would take him into the Premier League after an impressive 2025/26 Championship campaign.

Azeez scored 11 goals and supplied 7 assists in 37 league appearances last season, earning a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

The question is whether Brighton will meet Millwall's valuation. For Azeez, the opportunity is obvious. A move to Brighton would give him his first chance to establish himself in the Premier League and potentially put him on a bigger stage with the Super Eagles.

But Millwall have little reason to sell cheaply. The club know Azeez is under contract for two more years, and that Brighton's interest could become a valuable negotiating tool.

With the Premier League deadline approaching, Azeez could therefore be waiting on one final bid to determine whether his career takes a major step forward.
