The Nigeria international could be set for a move to England, with three Premier League clubs credited with an interest in his services
According to Spanish news outlet, Fichajes, Arsenal have joined the race to sign Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze.
It would not be the first time the Gunners will show interest in the Nigeria international.
Arsenal appeared to be Chukwueze’s likeliest destination a few years ago after the then-teenager starred as Nigeria won the 2015 FIFA u17 World Cup.
But negotiations broke down and the youngster ended up at Villarreal.
Chukwueze was excellent with the Spanish club’s youth team and was promoted to the first team.
The exciting winger has since notched 15 goals and 14 assists in 130 appearances for the Yellow Submarines.
Chukwueze could, however, be the solution to Mikel Arteta’s lack of options on the right wing with reports suggesting that the Gunners’ boss is looking to bring in cover for Bukayo Saka.
It could be complicated getting Chukwueze to the Emirates Stadium, though, with Aston Villa and Everton also reportedly interested in the 23-year-old.
Villa’s new boss, Unai Emery, a former Arsenal manager, worked well with Chukwueze at Villarreal until he vacated his role last week to return to the Premier League.
Everton also have a recent connection with Chukwueze. The Toffees were close to sealing a deadline-day deal for the Nigerian attacker in the summer.
But Arsenal’s rich history and pedigree with developing youngsters could lure Chukwueze to London.
Is Chukwueze ready for the EPL?
Fast, tricky on the ball, and a menace on the counter-attack, Samuel Chukwueze’s characteristics are tailor-made for the English Premier League.
The 24-cap Nigeria international would have little trouble adapting to the Mikel Arteta way of football.
Chukwueze’s €20 million valuation poses no stumbling block should the Gunners decide to move for him in January.
The Nigerian forward’s contract with Villarreal expires in 2024.
